The sudden demise of 21-year-old Tishaa Kumar, daughter of former actor and co-owner of T-Series, Krishan Kumar, sent shockwaves across the industry. Tishaa, the cousin of Bhushan Kumar, was battling cancer for a long time and was being treated in Germany where she breathed her last, on Thursday. Her funeral was held in Vile Parle in Mumbai on Monday and was attended by Riteish Deshmukh, Saiee Manjrekar, Farah Khan, Sajid Khan, and members of Nadiadwala family among other celebrities. A heartbreaking video from Tishaa’s prayer meet, where singer Sonu Nigam is seen breaking down and crying uncontrollably, has now surfaced online.
The video, captured by singer Siddharth Kumar Mohan, shows Sonu approaching Krishan and collapsing into his lap. Krishan is seen consoling Sonu. According to Movified Bollywood, those present at the prayer meet, described the scene as deeply emotional as Sonu’s grief was overwhelming. Fans were taken aback to see Sonu get emotional as the singer is usually seen composed.
“He is also a father, so he is feeling for Krishan Kumar,” wrote a fan reacting to the video, while another user commented, “Sonu has a pure soul, he can feel pain.” “Sonu has a very good relationship with the Kumar family,” said an Instagram user. Many came in support of him. “People have lost empathy. How can they say it’s overacting those who have lost knows how grateful that you don’t have to endure such pain of losing someone in your life,” said a fan. The music giant T-Series has had a long-standing partnership with Sonu, producing numerous chartbusters.
The prayer meet had many from the film and music fraternity in attendance. Celebrities like Kartik Aaryan, Anil Kapoor, Anu Malik, Vicky Jain, Udit Narayan, Jackie Shroff, and Bobby Deol came to pay their last respects. Her last rites had originally been planned for Sunday, but bad weather forced a rerouting of the aircraft carrying her remains, delaying the ritual.
Tishaa’s last public appearance was on November 30, 2023, at the premiere of Ranbir Kapoor’s film Animal. Tishaa’s cousin, singer Tulsi Kumar took to Instagram to share a heartfelt tribute to her cousin. In her emotional message, accompanied by a throwback picture of Tishaa, she wrote, “Our dearest Tishaa, it breaks my heart that you are gone It was not your time to go, we wanted to see you grow, prosper, achieve success and see you in your wedding dress, not see you like this Gone too soon my little sister #omshanti #stayinpeace #alwaysinourheart.”
